THE MANEATER

During my two years at The Maneater, I spent much of my time writing and reporting. I started on the Greek Life beat my freshman year, reporting on what was happening in fraternities and sororities on Mizzou's campus. Later on, I was promoted to become a senior staff writer, allowing me to work in other sections and write different stories, including a long-form story that was featured on the website's front page for weeks and drove significant traffic to the site. Later, during my time as the opinion editor of the paper, I wrote weekly editorials about local, statewide and national issues that affected our campus. The Maneater is where I first learned to hone my craft as a writer.

CLIPS

The Best of Friends — Feb. 13, 2015

  • A long-form story I wrote about "Tiger Buddies," a student organization at the University of Missouri that pairs student volunteers with people with disabilities. The story focuses on two of these pairings; Taylor and Bennett, and Colleen and Sarah. The story was nominated for a number of Missouri College Media Association awards and was the most-visited story on the site for two weeks in a row.

Greek Week sports brings community together — April 16, 2014

  • News story I wrote about the sports tournament held during Mizzou's annual "Greek Week," a week-long celebration of fraternity and sorority culture. The story was part of a larger "Greek Week" package featured in the weekly paper.

New multicultural sorority arrives to MU — Feb. 19, 2014

  • News story I wrote about Delta Xi Nu, a multicultural sorority that started its MU chapter in 2014. The story focuses around the sorority's emphasis on multiculturalism, a stark difference to many of the other sororities and fraternities on campus.
